WhatsApp beta update brings Android 7.1 emojis for everyone
While a majority of Android smartphone users have yet to jump on to Android Nougat, WhatsApp with a new update is now providing support for a fresh set of emojis that come with Unicode 9.0. While this update is rolling out to WhatsApp’s beta channel, the new emoji’s appear to available for everyone, both with or without the Nougat update.
Yes, its a new year, and there’s nothing like a fresh new set of emoji to spice up those WhatsApp conversations. The new Unicode 9.0 pack that is rolling out with the new WhatsApp version 2.17.44 brings a new set of emoji like the nauseated face, bacon, a shrug, a dancing boy and some more profession emoji as well.
While the new feature will take some time to release on the stable channel, users can at least be happy that they do not need to have Nougat on their smartphones to use the new emoji when they arrive.
Apple released the new Unicode 9.0 emoji sometime back with the iOS 10.2 rollout. Google pushed out the same via the Android 7.1 update, but that again only applied to the older Nexus and the new Pixel range of smartphones.
